About

The Integrative
Innovator

I'm a bioengineering innovator who believes the best technology understands without destroying. My work spans from the physics of living cells to the patterns of the human mind.

Currently CEO and Founder of AuraSense, pioneering generative AI for neurology assessments. Previously founded Charlot Biosciences, where I developed cellPhoresis technology for non-destructive cell analysis.

I hold a PhD in Bioengineering from UC San Diego and a BS in Physics from Delaware State University. I achieved a lifelong goal and served the USA as a Patent Examiner at the USPTO (Art Unit 3795). Beyond entrepreneurship and research, I also serve as a Course Developer at UC Santa Barbara.

My Philosophy

Honor the Past

Every innovation builds on the wisdom of those who came before. We stand on the shoulders of giants.

Look Without Destroying

The best understanding comes from observation, not destruction. We have tools to see without killing.

Serve the Future

Build technology that makes tomorrow better for those who come after. Our legacy is what we leave behind.

The Journey

2026 — Present

Open Interface Engineering

Founded openIE to research energy-efficient AGI and AI-native programming languages. Pioneering hardware-aware AI systems that achieve 70%+ energy savings without sacrificing capability. Open Access research published for community benefit.

2022 — Present

AuraSense & C3I Tech

Founded AuraSense to bring generative AI to neurology—automating assessments and detecting patterns invisible to the human eye. Also founded C3I Tech for command, control, communications, and intelligence solutions serving critical infrastructure.

2016 — Present

Charlot Biosciences (CBio)

Founded CBio to develop cellPhoresis technology—non-destructive cell sorting using electrokinetic mobility. Created systems that analyze live cells without chemical tagging or lethal forces. "We have tools to look inside the body without killing the patient, so why should we have to kill cells to understand disease?"

USPTO (Art Unit 3795)

Patent Examiner & UC Santa Barbara

Achieved a lifelong goal serving the USA as a Patent Examiner at the USPTO, evaluating cutting-edge biotech innovations. Also developing and instructing courses at UC Santa Barbara, passing knowledge to the next generation of engineers.

2008 — 2016

Biological Dynamics

Co-founded Biological Dynamics to revolutionize cancer diagnostics through liquid biopsy. Developed technology to isolate cell-free DNA from blood—enabling early cancer detection with minimal invasion. Won first place at UC San Diego Entrepreneur Challenge.

2004 — 2012

UC San Diego

Earned MS and PhD in Bioengineering from the Jacobs School of Engineering. Focused on building integrated systems for rare biological event detection— finding needles in haystacks of biological data.

2001 — 2004

Delaware State University

BS in Physics from this HBCU in Dover, Delaware. Built the foundation of first-principles thinking and mathematical modeling that would later drive my work in microfluidics and bioengineering.

Beyond the Lab

When I'm not building the future of biotech and AI, you'll find me exploring tide pools with my kids, discussing game theory, or diving into cognitive science and philosophy.

I believe in the power of analogy to make complex ideas accessible. Whether it's comparing microfluidic separation to a pasta strainer or explaining cell behavior through everyday experiences, the best communication bridges the gap between expert and novice.
